Latina Leaders:
Carolina A, age 12, Mt. ViewWhy Carolina made this website...
"All around the world Latinas and Latinos are changing and shaping history. however, some are not given the credit they deserve, so by creating this website I hope it inspires Latinos and Latinas everywhere."
What Carolina had to say about her experience in the 2021 Summer Immersion Program...
"I learned so much in just 3 weeks. It's amazing how much you can learn. I feel like coding is something I want to do in the future. I feel much more confident about everything." -
Recycling:
Isabella C, age 13, San JoseWhat Isabella had to say about the 2021 Summer Immersion Program...
"I've gained motivation to succeed in my future career and inspiration from the speakers, it was nice hearing about their stories and the challenges they had to overcome. Their stories were also very eye opening and empowering." -
Transgender Awareness:
Alina O, age 14, SalinasWhy Alina made this website...
"As a Trans Masc myself I felt like people didn't know much about the trans community, so I decided to make a website about it so I can help spread information about different things in the community and hopefully spread more awareness about the community." -
Pets:
Brianna G, age 13, San JoseWhat Brianna had to say about the 2021 Summer Immersion Program...
"I've done 2 coding programs before this one but I never learned HTML, CSS, or JavaScript so it was really different. This program is much more hands-on and the only one I enjoyed. I feel like the stuff I learned (from the speakers and helpers) will stick with me." -
Books by Diverse Authors:
Diana T, age 13, PittsburgWhy Diana made this website...
"I wanted to make a website where people could find books with characters that related to them. Only reading books with cis/het white characters can be diminishing for POC youth. Reading books with characters that are like you can make you feel actually immersed in the book. Unfortunately, I only included a small percentage of the POC community to keep the list short. POC youth face a lot of discrimination and often need a form of escapism. I hope that these recommendations can help others as they helped me."

Alisson B, age 11, San JoseWhat Alisson had to say about the 2021 Summer Immersion Program...
"I learned how to code in HTML, Javascript, and CSS. Also how to be more confident and never give up. In addition, I also gained inspiration because the guest speakers inspired me to follow my dreams and go to college." -
Latina Empowerment:
Andreina M, age 11, Mt. ViewWhy Andreina made this website...
"Latina Empowerment is a website that is used to empower and inspire young Latina's to be the next generation of smart intelligent young women. As a young Latina myself I find it helpful when I get motivation and inspiration from others. With that being said this website will give you the empowerment you need to get through and the motivation to continue and never give up." -
NBA Issues:
Juanita M, age 13, El Sobrante -
Coping with Stress:
Samantha T, age 12, San JoseWhat Samantha had to say about the 2021 Summer Immersion Program...
"I feel like I gained a lot because I know that being in the computer science field is really good, before this I really wished I knew more of how to code so this experience was helpful. I loved every part the teaching part was really good and I understood it quite well." -
Mental Health Helper:
Nephertytie G, age 11, Menlo ParkWhat Nephertytie had to say about the 2021 Summer Immersion Program...
